This year, marking the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing, the Hiroshima Prefecture booth at the Osaka World Expo featured an exhibition conveying memories of the war through origami cranes and virtual reality. Visitors folded origami cranes, offering prayers for peace. An event was also held where children spoke about peace, and messages from children around the world were shared.
Furthermore, journalist Daisaku Yoshimura is using English picture-story shows every day during the Expo to convey the experiences of the atomic bombing in Hiroshima and appeal to the world for nuclear disarmament. The illustrations were created by an artist who experienced war and evacuated from Ukraine, passionately conveying the tragedy of war and the importance of peace.
